Three things:

The Red Canoe stuff, which I love, is also available in Toronto on the second floor of the Blue Banana market in Kensington. Totally worth going there for a look if in the area.

2, the very best gifts I get are, inevitably, for my kitchen. I have two friends who stop by a TJ Maxx (!!!) outlet (!!!!) in Virginia Beach (!!!!!) any time that they drive through and find the single best piece of copper cookware that they can and get it for me for Christmas every year. They get the stuff at a huge discount, but it’s very mix and match – which is totally cool for copper, I think. Two years ago it was this, my favourite, a saute pan from Mauviel: http://www.amazon.com/Mauviel-Cuprinox-Extra-Thick-3-Quart-Sauté/dp/B0002L5FQQ/ref=sr_1_19?ie=UTF8&m=A1Q7CVHD4FXL96&s=generic&qid=1231348937&sr=1-19 that I just love.
Lastly, I think that links in your blog should open up in a new tab or window. Prevents people from navigating away.

My husband came home one Friday evening, and said hon, you are going to love me even more. I ordered some amazing Treats for you.
I opened the Espresso Brown Box w Green Ribbon, to discover, and yes I said discover, beautiful packaged cookies.
I had a Chocolate Dried Cranberries & Cherries w White Chocolate Cookie, this was the best the best cookie I have ever tasted.
And the Ginger Cookies w Real Ginger Bits were to die for.
Now even if I did not like the cookies, the presentation was on point and oh so elegant.
And to top it off, are you ready for this? the cookies were all Organic.
You need to give this company a try. And yes I love my hubby even more, for that great treat.

One of the best (Birthday) gifts I’ve ever received .. I actually haven’t received yet!

The gift came in the form of a custom made gift certificate for 1 concert ticket (Coldplay) + 1 (always overpriced) beer. It was given to me by two of my best friends who will be joining me for the concert next week.. my Birthday was in March.

It has been a lot of fun anticipating such a fun night out with the girls to see a great band.. waiting and planning to receive it has been part of the gift!

I can’t wait to finally enjoy this Birthday gift — the longest wait ever but so worth it!

The ultimate question is, what to get for someone who has everything? I think gift giving is fabulous, I put a lot of thought into what I give to others, each gift has to be specially tailored to whom it is given.
The most memorable presents I have given to people have been experiences. My darling boyfriend expected to go out for dinner for his birthday this year. Instead he came home from work to a surprise birthday party complete with his favorite cake. But my gift to him for his birthday was something he had been fantasizing about for years! And this is not for everyone, but for him it was the best thing I could have given him. A de-boned, marinated, stuffed and (by my Italian butcher) roasted whole piglet. It fed the whole party, few people were sent home with left overs, my boyfriend ate it for days and will again after he unfreezes the rest. It was all about sharing the day with his favorite people in a way he long wished for. I think he loves me just a little bit more after that!

The best gift I have ever received was from my Dad. He is a self taught artist who creates purely for personal pleasure. He painted and mounted a magnificent painting. I love it like I love all his work and I am some proud to have it hanging in my place. The best gifts don’t always cost anything, the best gifts come from the heart.

The greatest gift I ever received cannot be bought in stores, and cannot be traded, lent or borrowed; only exchanged.

It is the unexpected gift of friendship, when someone you don’t know very well reaches out to you and helps you in a selfless way, expecting nothing in return.

At 40 years old, I’ve been surprised by this gift several times in my life, and each time I have valued it more than any material possession I have ever had or can imagine.

It has come in many forms, like someone trusting me enough to kiss me and say “I love you”, or someone supporting me when I was down. Other times its been an offer of help that was delivered once accepted, instead of a “lets do lunch, call me next week” insincerity.

Ultimately, gifts are things we should give expecting nothing in return, and the best part of a gift is being surprised by receiving back more than you gave – either physically, or better still, emotionally.

I try to live my life being a giver, I assume we create the universe in our own images, and I want mine to be one of mutual support and love. I hope you will contemplate what gifts you can give, and try to give as often as you can. Remember, you don’t have to be rich or poor, male or female, young or old, this type of gift is only defined by the needs of the receiver; and your willingness to be a giver.

Well, the BEST gift I’ve ever received is my dog – but I realize a lot of time and consideration (and, perhaps, prior consultation with the receiver) is necessary for that kind of present (it is, after all, a gift that keeps on giving – long after it’s given!). Second best would be something I’ve received from a few very important people in my life: all past correspondence between us, whether in e-mail or snail-mail form, perfect-bound. A keeper!

For the birth of my son, my aunt – my son’s godmother – commissioned a painting of him and our dog together. http://www.cindymckennaartist.com/

Its whimsical, fun, and very personal. We love it!

As a graduation gift, my best friend had gotten me a large framed picture of us and our dates, and had all my closest friends sign it with a good luck and farwell note. I had received this gift at our “graduation gift exchange supper”, and of course upon openeing it, I was completely shocked as to how she pulled it off without me knowing, and I burst into tears. That’s what bet friends are for! Still the best gift I’ve recieved to this day!

The best present I have ever received was tickets to ACDC the same day as the concert. My husband and I tried desperately to get tickets the minute they were on sale but the computer system had a glitch and we were unable to get any. This was pretty much the concert of a lifetime for the both of us as we never get any really good entertainers where we live. Needless to say we were very disappointed. Luckilly the day of the concert a local promoter put some tickets up for sale and my husband was fortunate enough to snag 2. We had an absolute blast and still have fond memories of it today.

The best gift I`ve received is when I proposed marriage to my wife and she said YES. And she has given me to lovely kids. Nothing can replace that :)

One of the best gifts that I ever gave myself was to have a maid service clean my house just before Christmas. It really didn’t cost all that much, about $100, but the feeling of walking into a sparkling clean house was over the top amazing.

I would suggest that if you are stuck on a gift for someone, consider a house cleaning. It is the ultimate luxury!

What a great site! Some very clever ideas for gift giving.

One of my more favorite gifts that I have recently bought for my college aged sons is custom Nike elite socks. They go to Florida State and you just won’t find any quite like these on other sites. Very unique. http://hoopswagg.com/products/florida-state-digital-camo
