Your Favourite Gifts

You said some of your favourite gifts were…

One of the best gifts I’ve ever received .. I actually haven’t received yet! The gift came in the form of a custom made gift certificate for 1 concert ticket + 1 (always overpriced) beer. It was given to me by two of my best friends who will be joining me for the concert. It has been a lot of fun anticipating such a fun night out with the girls to see a great band.. waiting and planning to receive it has been part of the gift! - Anna Lisa

Wooden butcher’s block. - Kyle

A diamond solitaire promise ring from my boyfriend. - Lily

One of the best gifts that I ever gave myself was to have a service clean my house just before Christmas. The feeling of walking into a sparkling clean house was over the top amazing. I would suggest that if you are stuck on a gift for someone, consider a house cleaning. It is the ultimate luxury! - Colleen

The very best gifts I get are, inevitably, for my kitchen. I have two friends who stop by a TJ Maxx (!!!) outlet (!!!!) in Virginia Beach (!!!!!) any time that they drive through and find the single best piece of copper cookware that they can and get it for me for Christmas every year. They get the stuff at a huge discount, but it’s very mix and match – which is totally cool for copper, I think. - Max

For the birth of my son, my aunt – my son’s godmother – commissioned a painting of him and our dog together. It’s whimsical, fun, and very personal. We love it! - Elisa

Well, the BEST gift I’ve ever received is my dog – but I realize a lot of time and consideration (and, perhaps, prior consultation with the receiver) is necessary for that kind of present (it is, after all, a gift that keeps on giving – long after it’s given!). Second best would be something I’ve received from a few very important people in my life: all past correspondence between us, whether in e-mail or snail-mail form, perfect-bound. A keeper! - Noa

Some of my favourites:

Given:
1. A beautifully bound, custom family photo album that included photos of my parents growing up right up to the latest family portrait.

2. Custom onesies with cheeky sayings to congratulate a newly pregnant friend.

3. An antique watch made the year my partner was born and found in a flea market on a special trip.

4. Surprise parties. Nothing beats the look on someone’s face when they walk into a room and see all their family and friends gathered there to celebrate them.

Received:
1. For my University graduation my parents sent my sister and I on a trip to Paris. I’ll never forget the sights and tastes of that spectacular city.

2. A visit to an art gallery where I was able to select a print for myself.

3. A pair of hiking boots with voucher to explore a unique part of Canada in them.

4. An antique ring. Such a special gift from my special person. I love that when wearing it I’m carrying on the family history.
